The Integrated Timber Processing Factory
The core business of Aramijaya is the production of wood chip for pulp and paper industry. Acacia trees also felled and sawn to timber boards in various sizes to cater for the furniture and flooring industry.
The first Wood Chipping Plant is located in Pasir Gudang, Johor which started its operation end 2004. In order to value add to the chip business, the Company made a strategic move to diversify into particleboard business in 2011. A twin line fibreboard factory was built beside the Chipping Plant to produce panel board size in various thicknesses using the waste materials derived from saw mills and during the replanting works as well as some of the oversized wood chips. This is in line with Aramijaya’s objective of zero burning policy and good waste management practice.
The Integrated Factory in Pasir Gudang generates two-thirds of the power it consumes from renewable sources. It is achieved by leveraging on boiler plant to provide steam and heat for wood drying and the hot press machines. This represents a significant effort by Aramijaya to broaden the concept of sustainable forestry practices by turning the wood wastes into energy.
The Company has invested to access to the latest technologies and equipment to improve efficiencies and achieve higher returns from the timber business. The wood chipping plant is equipped with modern debarking machines and a giant high speed mobile wood chips conveyor system that enable us to be competitive in the world market.
The second Wood Chipping Line and Sawmill were set up in the LHUS itself to further increase the production of wood chips for local Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) industry.
On 6 January 2012, Aramijaya had awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for the scope of “Manufacture of wood chips, sawn timber, fabrication of wood pallet and particle boards for various industries”. Establishment of Wood Chipping Plants and the export of chips business is recognised as one of the cornerstones of Aramijaya development in the region.
